Panel Mount Touch Displays

Industrial-grade panel mount touch displays for building automation and control cabinets

During installation, the panel mount touch display with its enclosure is precisely inserted into the cutout of the mounting wall. The system is securely screwed from the back. The protruding frame ensures a clean finish by covering the edges of the cutout. One advantage of this mounting type is that panel mounts can be easily adapted to individual requirements. This makes it ideal for industrial applications and uses in building automation.

FAQs

Are custom configurations available?2025-02-03T16:29:07+01:00

Yes, we absolutely offer custom configurations to meet your specific needs. These include:

  • Display adjustments, such as screen size and brightness levels, ideal for outdoor applications.
  • Touch technology customization, including PCAP or resistive touch options.
  • Custom enclosures or frames tailored to your requirements.
  • Integration of additional interfaces, such as GPIO, serial ports, or other connectors.

For Panel PCs, you can customize the processor, memory, and operating system to fit your exact specifications. With our tailor-made solutions, we ensure that your product is perfectly aligned with your unique application needs.

When should I use PCAP Multi-Touch or resistive touch?2025-02-03T16:33:00+01:00

The choice between PCAP (Projected Capacitive) and resistive touchscreen depends on the application’s requirements.

PCAP multi-touch enables intuitive operation with multiple fingers and supports gesture control such as swiping or zooming. Thanks to its robust glass surface, it is durable and well-suited for modern, design-oriented applications such as infoterminals or HMIs in cleanrooms. However, PCAP touchscreens have limited functionality when used with gloves (e.g., thin latex gloves) or on wet surfaces.

A resistive touchscreen, on the other hand, works through pressure and can therefore be used with gloves, styluses, or other input devices. It is resistant to moisture and provides a cost-effective solution for harsh environments, such as industrial production or medical devices. However, it does not offer multi-touch functionality and is less responsive.

What is the difference between a panel PC and a touch display?2025-02-03T16:36:04+01:00

A panel PC is an integrated device that includes both a touch display and a complete computing platform. It is used when a standalone solution is required that does not rely on external PC hardware, for example, in industrial automation or as an IoT gateway.

A touch display, on the other hand, is a pure display device without a computing unit. It is connected to an external PC platform and is ideal for scenarios where a computer is already in place. Such displays are often used as workstation extensions or in kiosk systems.

The choice depends on whether you need a fully independent system (panel PC) or merely an input and display interface (touch display).

Which mounting option do I need for my application?2025-02-03T16:38:58+01:00

The choice of the appropriate mounting option depends on the environment, usage requirements, and desired flexibility. In harsh environments where dust, moisture, or vibrations are factors, an embedded or VESA mount with robust enclosures is recommended. If the display needs to be frequently moved or adjusted in position, the VESA/arm mount is the ideal solution.

For design-critical applications where seamless integration of the display is required, flush-mounted installation is particularly suitable. If a unique, customized housing design is needed, an open frame is the best choice.

What are the differences between VESA/arm mounting, panel mounting, and open frame?2025-02-03T16:41:34+01:00

The different mounting options vary in terms of flexibility and intended use.

With VESA or arm mounting, the display is attached using standardized VESA mounting holes (e.g., 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm). This option is ideal when the device needs to be flexibly mounted on arms, brackets, or walls, such as in control panels or infoterminals that require frequent repositioning.

Embedded mounting, on the other hand, integrates the display directly into machine housings, walls, or control cabinets. This ensures a flush or recessed installation, which is space-saving and aesthetically appealing. It is ideal for applications like HMIs or control rooms, where the display is meant to remain in a fixed position.

An open frame provides maximum flexibility for custom enclosures or designs. The display, without an external casing, is directly integrated into customer-specific designs, such as kiosk systems or ticket machines. Open frames are particularly suitable when specific requirements for shape and design need to be met.
