Description
Durabook GC-R8 – Rugged Ground Control Station for UAVs, UGVs and Autonomous Systems
The Durabook GC-R8 Ground Control Station is a fully rugged and highly configurable control platform engineered for drones, unmanned ground vehicles, robotics, and autonomous mobile systems. Integrated with the Durabook R8 rugged tablet, it combines field-ready durability with an ergonomic control interface for demanding defense, industrial, inspection, and remote-operation applications.
Its control layout can be customized to match individual operational requirements. Hall-effect joysticks, a direction pad, protected push buttons, optional toggle switches, and thumb wheels enable application-specific control schemes. Durabook states that the platform can support up to 36 configurable I/O channels, providing extensive flexibility for different unmanned platforms.
Rugged connectivity includes M12 military-grade Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, and DC input. Optional WLAN and WWAN antenna ports enable wireless configurations supporting Wi-Fi 5, 4G/LTE, and 5G connectivity. The integrated R8 tablet also provides a sunlight-readable DynaVue® display for outdoor missions.
Certified to MIL-STD-810H and IP66, the GC-R8 operates reliably from -20°C to +60°C. VESA 75/100 mounting, D-ring attachment points, stylus mounting, and optional shoulder straps simplify deployment in vehicles and mobile field environments. At less than 1.2 kg, the controller remains portable despite its rugged construction.
